Engineering Estimator

We are currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated Engineering Estimator for our client based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Our client provides comprehensive fabrication services to industries such as offshore, subsea, power generation, wind farms, and general engineering.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for preparing reliable time, cost, and labour estimates for products, projects, or services by performing the following duties:

• Analyse and interpret technical specifications, reference drawings, technical documents, and regulatory body regulations.
• Review data to determine labour, material, and subcontract requirements and prepare itemized estimates.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare quotations and proposals.
• Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Request quotations and analyse subcontractor quotes in consultation with purchasing to determine the best alternative.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Experience in shipbuilding, offshore fabrication, or marine engineering, with experience as an estimator being an advantage.
• Ability to write reports, technical proposals, and other correspondence.
• Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Access, and Projects.
• Ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the company, clients, and suppliers.
• Commercial awareness, a positive attitude, and good communication skills.
• Ability to perform required duties independently and as a team.
• Capacity and motivation to travel and work flexible hours.
